Dallas Contemporary’s Spring Exhibitions Opening Celebration

April 3, 7:00 pm9:00 pm

Free

On Wednesday, April 3, from 7-9 pm join us for the celebration of our spring exhibitions and a special opportunity to meet the artists. Plus, enjoy music by DJ Sober and specialty cocktails from LALO Tequila, Greenhouse Gin, and Townes Vodka.

Celebrated artist Patrick Martinez presents Histories, the artist’s largest solo exhibition to date. featuring sculpture, dynamic installations, large-scale multi-media paintings, and the artist’s iconic neon works, the exhibition draws attention to often overlooked and ephemeral city scenes embedded with elements reflective of intergenerational cultural exchange. Histories is curated by Rafael Barrientos Martínez.

Who’s Afraid of Cartoony Figuration? debuts the same night – a multi-dimensional group exhibition, curated by adjunct curator Alison M. Gingeras. The show presents works by artists Karolina Jabłońska, Sally Saul, Tabboo! and Umar Rashid that dare to mix the levity of cartoons, comics, and commercial illustration with some of the most pressing socio-political subjects of our day.
