Southwest Contemporary acknowledges, with gratitude, that it’s headquartered on the unceded lands known as O’ghe P’oghe, meaning White Shell, Water Place, the original Tewa name for Santa Fe. We recognize that our work takes place across the Southwest on traditional territories that span these lands. Learn more about Native lands by visiting resources such as native-land.ca and usdac.us/nativeland.
Through arts journalism that centers underheard voices and lifts up Indigenous perspectives, Southwest Contemporary seeks to address the injustices of settler colonialism. This acknowledgment does not take the place of authentic relationships with Native communities; it is a first step in honoring the land and the people. We also recognize that this acknowledgment is a work in progress.
