Join Brooklyn artist Kate Stone and Denver artist Saul Acevedo Gomez for a live, virtual artist talk and walkthrough of their joint exhibition Living Rooms currently on view at Union Hall Art Space.
Moderated by Union Hall’s Chief Curator Esther Hernandez, this conversation will take a deep dive into the concept and inspiration behind the exhibition with words from Kate and Saul about their creative practice. There will be time for Q&A at the end!
Living Rooms delves into the dual perspectives of Saul Acevedo Gomez and Kate Stone, offering two unique lenses to ponder the many hidden narratives woven into our surroundings. Through his 2D drawings, Gomez transforms gallery spaces into vibrant theaters where vivid colors and whimsical inhabitants come alive, reflecting his inner world. On the other hand, with her animation works employing 2D and 3D materials, Stone focuses on the intrinsic connection of nature in domestic space, drawing attention to often-overlooked elements. The artwork melds abstract elements with everyday motifs, aiming to reshape and redefine both. Together, their works create a dialogue between the physicality of the spaces and the imaginative landscapes within the artists’ minds.
Living Rooms is on view through October 19, 2024.
Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 12-6 pm. For more information on Union Hall’s location, parking, and accessibility, go to UnionHallDenver.org/visit.
