Join us in celebrating the launch of the latest issue of Southwest Contemporary magazine, “Living Histories,” with an evening of art, culture, and community.

On Friday, April 5, at 6 pm at the Albuquerque Museum, we’ll discuss our latest issue, which focuses on the diverse and vibrant histories of the Southwest—with short, engaging talks by some of the artists, writers, and thinkers that are a part of this issue.

Speakers include:

  • Jordan Eddy, writer and author of “Modernware: The Allure and Tension in Defining Nampeyo, An Iconic Pueblo Potter, as a Modernist.”
  • Natalie Hegert, arts editor, Southwest Contemporary.
  • Chaz John, featured artist (Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, Mississippi Band Choctaw, European).
  • Josie Lopez, head curator, Albuquerque Museum.
  • Delilah Montoya, featured artist.
  • Chip Thomas, featured artist.
  • Lauren Tresp, editor and publisher, Southwest Contemporary.

This event will also include a celebration of a new mural commission by Thomas, Albuquerque Museum’s 2024 Visiting Artist, in the museum’s lobby.
