Internationally acclaimed illustrator Sue Llewellyn has had an impressive career that has spanned over five decades. From solo exhibitions to covers of albums and magazines her work has appeared in Town and Country, Playboy, Vogue, Science Digest, New York Times, Horchow, Money Magazine and many others.
This retrospective will showcase Sue’s brilliant illustration work throughout the stages of her career. This will be the only opportunity to view the journey of her early sketch works to her two large scale finely detailed paintings from the 1990s to her now recent whimsical small works.
Sue’s career started early after earning her college degree in Denton, Texas. Soon after graduating Llewellyn landed an advertising illustration job with Neiman Marcus. Not only did Sue’s career start to take off but it was here that Sue found her unique and groundbreaking style.
Sue’s international exhibitions have included Galerie Arti et Amicitiae, Amsterdam; Museum of Modern Art, Sao Paula Brazil; Forum de Halles Paris France, and Somerset House in London England. She has held exhibitions in eleven New York City galleries as well as galleries in California, Texas, and New Mexico.
Sue Llewellyn has now found home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her recent work is whimsical yet finely detailed. Using ink, pencil, and acrylics, the characters in her illustrations are vivid and thought provoking.
