- A committee including the Caballeros, the All Pueblo Council of Governors, the Santa Fe Fiesta Council, the Archdiocese of Santa Fe and the mayor’s office has voted to cancel this year’s Entrada. Protests of last year’s event, led by the Red Nation and other indigenous advocacy groups who argued that the Entrada erases and revises the history of violence against Pueblo people in New Mexico, resulted in arrests.
- Art Santa Fe announced their sales and placement stats for 2018.
- After a group of citizens, including members of Chainbreaker Collective, voiced concerns about the threat of displacement for residents in surrounding neighborhoods, Santa Fe City Council seeks input from underrepresented communities in plans for the future of the former SFUAD campus.
- The Lannan Foundation’s 2018-2019 season of readings has been announced, including poet laureate Tracy K. Smith, Tayari Jones, Aminatta Forna, Edwidge Danticat, and Alice Walker.
- The La Farge branch of the Santa Fe Public Library is still closed due to flood damage, which took 1,500 children’s books out of circulation. If you want to help them restock the shelves, you can donate online (with “La Farge” in the note field).
