About the Performers:
Camilo Quiñones a.k.a. CQtheDrummer is a multi-talented entertainer/artist specializing in music production, drums, percussion, and DJing. Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and raised on the Afro-Caribbean sounds of the islands, he follows a strong decorated lineage of Quiñones percussionists, his father Tony, uncle Rafael, and highly decorated brother Marc Quiñones.
Anjo King‘s sound is rooted in djing as an intersectional device to engage rhythms of the diaspora. King’s interest holds true to approaching djing as an artist rather than a performer. Approaching djing from an artist perspective provides a unique experience for the audience to engage with sound in a more present way.
Luz Skylarker was raised on a steady diet of Earth Wind and Fire, 2 tone, música romántica and Etta James. When asked about her musical preferences: “my soul sings in three genres— rocksteady, cumbia and hardcore— that have helped me find love and appreciation for any music that has depth and ganas.” In 2022 Skylarker’s sets ranged from reggaetón, bossanova, and salsa to old school, new wave, and 80’s pop. She recently jumped into the deep end of the darkwave, psicodelia, and post punk swimming pool and has dug deeper into connecting these distortion and synth driven genres to her musical roots. Despite her varied musical tastes, her DJ sets revolve around a common rhythm, theme, or vibe for a cohesive sonic experience.
