Inbal Abergil: The Presence of Absence
opening reception: Friday, May 10, 6-9 pm
on view: May 10–June 22, 2024
The Colorado Photographic Arts Center presents The Presence of Absence, a long-term body of work that includes two photographic projects and a film by Inbal Abergil. Viewers can see select photographs from one of the two photographic projects, entitled N.O.K: Next of Kin, and a segment of the film, entitled Four Mothers. This work focuses on grief, trauma, healing, and human cost of conflict. As a veteran, a mother, an immigrant, and a daughter of North African parents, Abergil explores how the portrayal of grieving women from different cultures powerfully motivates changes in the way we remember.
A panel talk with Inbal Abergil, Scoti Domeji, Gold Star Mother; and Anne Walker, PhD. Moderated by Samantha Johnston, CPAC Executive Director & Curator will occur on Saturday, May 11, at 1 pm.
The exhibition, opening reception, and special programming are free to attend.
