Drawing Time / Drawing Breath, is a new solo exhibition by the artist Agnieszka Gasparska exploring our experiences of time, emotion and change, and gives form to some of the most subtle patterns of our everyday lives.

Agnieszka Gasparska’s Drawing Time / Drawing Breath is a series of twelve meticulously constructed abstract drawings that map the temporal landscapes of some of the most subtle patterns of our everyday lives. Each composed of thousands of tiny, hand-drawn marks, the portraits are a visual meditation on the passing of time, the processes of change and the varied landscapes of human emotion, eliciting our awareness of the delicate fragility and fundamental impermanence of the human experience. Based on simple but concrete sets of mathematical data, the visual images themselves are fluid, ethereal, and appear to be suspended in gentle motion. Each piece in Drawing Time / Drawing Breath is an exercise in trusting the flow and also a counting meditation. In the process of creating each drawing, Gasparska lets the ultimate form emerge organically as each piece grows while keeping careful track of the number of marks in her sketchbook, silently counting to a hundred over and over until the final desired number is reached.
