Diego Florez-Arroyo: WARNING: Mi Amá
opening reception: October 31, 6-10 pm
on view: October 31, 2024–January 4, 2025
WARNING: Mi Amá is a new collection of work by Denver poet, artist, and musician Diego Florez-Arroyo that explores the deep, innate connection between humans and the concept of “mother” in all its forms—biological, earth, and spiritual.
The opening reception for WARNING: Mi Amá will take place on October 31, from 6 to 10 pm at Union Hall. Halloween costumes are encouraged. There will be an artist talk with Diego on November 14, from 6 to 7:30 pm. Union Hall art space is free and open to the public every Wednesday through Saturday, 12 to 6 pm.
Through a combination of mediums and processes, WARNING: Mi Amá draws attention to Florez-Arroyo’s craftsmanship and intentional use of the beauty of the natural world, Mexican mythology, rituals, and traditions, as well as his own lived experience and connection to his mother.
Florez-Arroyo’s intention with this body of work is to encourage viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of life and the urgent need to protect our planet as a nurturing force.
