In Pomona, Alberto Gálvez presents a new series of exquisite portraits adorned with lush floral scenery, enriching his already sensuous tapestry of contemporary classicism, nature, and the enduring allure of the human countenance. Drawing inspiration from the botanical garden as harnessed and preserved nature, Gálvez builds upon previously explored themes, offering glimpses into the enigmatic and underlying relationship between human connection and the life abundant in earth’s creations.

Inspired by the ethereal figures and allegory present in Julia Margaret Cameron’s photographs, and the lively floral motifs in William Morris’s textiles, the paintings in Pomona come together and envision the eternal moment in the brimming present. Imbued within a deep pictorial warmth and vibrant enhancement in color, Gálvez masterfully captures the enduring connection between femininity and nature’s splendor, enveloping viewers in an evocative and ever-present posterity of classical art’s endless beauty.
