Join us for an in-person curatorial talk and exhibition tour with Kiera McIntosh, the guest curator behind the 2024 Rough Gems exhibition, To Offer/To Leave. Led by Union Hall’s Chief Curator Esther Hz, we will be discussing the concept, inspiration and selected works in the exhibition.
Can’t make it? We will upload a recording to Union Hall’s YouTube channel after the event has ended.
To Offer/To Leave, aesthetically and thematically inspired by the tales of Shakespeare’s character Ophelia and Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, showcases a moment in time after a decision of withdrawal has been made. By interweaving a selection of works from artists such as Daphne Sweet, Lindsay Smith Gustave, Drew Austin, Arthur Williams, Agnes Ma, and Robin Gammons; the exhibition incites a romantic fever dream that honors a shared melancholy. Through the thoughtful inclusion of light, sound, and aromatic sculpture the viewer plays witness to the tale before them within a space contemplation.
To Offer/To Leave is on view through Saturday, March 16, 2024. Union Hall’s gallery hours are Wednesday–Saturday, 12-6 pm.
Kiera McIntosh is a Denver based artist and curator that drives to support and uplift her fellow community, predominantly those in the queer sector, through thoughtful events and conversational spaces. It is through these settings that Kiera hopes to drive the development of empathy through connection and shared moments, as well as showcase the work of female voices in impactful settings. Her own work is inspired by femininity, lore, and time; often appearing in the form of glassware or curated antiques in particular contexts.
