RioBravoFineArt Gallery’s winter 2023 season in Truth or Consequences features artwork by Nolan Winkler, Darlene Olivia McElroy, Paul White, and Gregory Montreuil.

Truth or Consequences’ RioBravoFineArt Gallery presents three dynamic exhibitions through April 2023 featuring several Southern New Mexico-based artists that should be on your radar.
Revisited+: Nolan Winkler
on view through March 1, 2023
Hillsboro, New Mexico artist Nolan Winkler presents a wide array of work that spans decades. The older pieces provide context to the newer work and illustrate the artist’s creative trajectory. Her works are rich in color and filled with geometric forms painted with an “energetic brush.” Sometimes her pieces incorporate representational elements that share the space of a graphical vision.

Máscara – Masked/Unmasked: Darlene Olivia McElroy and Paul White
opening: February 12, 6 pm MT
on view through April 28, 2023
For Máscara – Masked/Unmasked, Darlene McElroy and Paul White present two distinct artistic approaches for exploring the concept of the mask as a pretense. McElroy examines masked/unmasked with mixed media paintings and assemblages that explore a largely symbolic narrative. Paul White delves into the world of the masked with multi-colored fused dichroic glass masks that evoke a fantasy world of unbridled luminance, such as one might experience at Mardi Gras or Carnival.

Distant Goal by Gregory Montreuil
opening: March 11, 6 pm MT
on view through April 28, 2023
Artist Gregory Montreuil approaches each of his artistic works with a goal; in the beginning, it is a distant goal. Chance, indeterminate actions, and impromptu decisions can make for a lengthy path. In this show, Montreuil presents a suite of paintings, oil on canvas, as well as a varied selection of works on paper. His works on paper incorporate a variety of mixed-media techniques, including collage. Montreuil has artworks in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., Yale University, the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos, and other institutions and private collections; he splits his time between Arrey, New Mexico, and Marseilles, France.
RioBravoFineArt Gallery, founded by American modernist painter H. Joe Waldrum (1934-2003), presents an exceptional array of paintings, print work, sculpture, photographs, and fiber art by contemporary artists from around the U.S.
