Inspired by fashion, urban culture, and southwestern landscapes, TinTin’s sculpture practice reintroduces post-consumer leather to its original source with a dash of social critique. TinTin combines skulls and status symbols to explore the intersection of commerce, culture, and nature.
Staged in the gallery shop’s project space, Rodeo Drive reveals how globalization influences our understanding of the world and our place in it. Popular design house logos usually found hanging from the arms of the affluent appear emblazoned on the skulls of the animals that provide the source material for luxury consumer products, creating a visual juxtaposition that brings into question the relationship between nature, material culture, and globalization.
