This exhibition is an exploration of the interconnection between art and health and how one can impact the other. Questions that I considered are: What are the connections between creativity, self-expression, and health? Can color, light and atmosphere provide a pathway toward well-being, or even a fleeting moment of happiness, a spark of joy, or a journey toward purpose?
Art and Health is an examination of and experimentation with light and color, and the concepts underpinning the connection of art to well-being. The work in this exhibition reflects my extensive reading and my interviews with health professionals. Light, words, voices, and text all become mediums in the work. Labovitz will be in the Helen DeVitt Jones Studio Gallery from November 1 through December 28, 2024.
