The Mad Hatter is showcasing the paintings of artist Salome Ali Jaffe in an exhibition, Une Vie, September 6-October 19, 2024. For Jaffe, who specializes in acid painting and uses a unique technique involving altering materials at the molecular level, Une Vie will be her first solo exhibit.
In Une Vie, Jaffe explores the depths of the human experience and self-expression, particularly for women. The artist’s mission is to remind us “that even in the face of challenges, there is grace to be found in our ability to adapt and endure while striving for a better reality.” Ultimately, Jaffe’s work advocates for resilience, hope, and harmony.
Jaffe holds a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and currently lives in rural Northern New Mexico, where she has been profoundly influenced by the natural environment and its impact on the materials she uses in her art practice. She began a three-month Santa Fe Art Institute Residency this month.
