Lost and Found is an experimental exhibition that incorporates objects found around Albuquerque into a sculptural arrangement throughout the gallery. The exhibition, curated by Lacey Chrisco and Chandler Wigton, gives a new context to discarded items, reframing them as objects that have their own melody and rhythm that transcend their functional purpose.
Everything in this exhibit was found either on the side of the road, buried in dirt, in a dumpster, in a recycling bin, blowing in the wind, getting run over by cars, or in the gutter—exposed to the elements that were slowly reclaiming these items to nature. Some of the objects are recognizable for their prior uses, but time and other human interventions have reshaped them into something else entirely. Lost and Found blurs the boundaries between curating found objects and arranging them into artistic installations. The exhibition celebrates the magic and power of recontextualizing and elevating discarded items in a gallery space. Lost and Found is on view from April 15–August 15 and the opening reception is Friday, May 2 from 5:00–7:00 p.m.
