Pie Projects Contemporary Art is honored to present Florence Miller Pierce: Translucence, an exhibition that showcases a selection of Pierce’s rare resin “reliefs” from the 80s and 90s.
Florence Miller Pierce (1918-2007) was the youngest member and one of the few women in the Transcendental Painting Group based in Taos, New Mexico in the late 1930s. Pierce’s work became minimal and luminous after her experiments with poured resin on mirrored Plexiglas.
Of her near monochrome resin pieces, author and art critic Lucy Lippard writes “they glow from within as though sending light outwards from another world.”
