Hecho a Mano Gallery in Santa Fe announces two literary events set to coincide with the Santa Fe International Literary Festival.
Fire in the Margin, the first gathering in an emergent poetry salon series, will take place on Thursday, May 15, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Hecho a Mano Gallery, just off the historic plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Happening alongside the Santa Fe International Literary Festival, the event features local poets with national followings in an intimate, immersive setting.
Fire in the Margin will feature Tommy Archuleta (Santa Fe’s current Poet Laureate), Natachee Momaday Gray, Kathryne Lim, James Thomas Stevens, and Shirley Edmondson. The salon is designed to showcase the diverse range of voices creating work in Northern New Mexico at this important moment in the evolving identity of the United States.
“Fire in the Margin was born out of a desire to create space for poetry that lingers, pulses and invites us into deeper listening,” says poet and event curator Mya Green. “I wanted to bring together voices that live on the edge of transformation, that carry both tenderness and heat. Northern New Mexico has a long tradition of storytelling and this is an offering to that lineage.”
Poet bios can be found at the end of the press release.
$20 suggested donation, no one turned away. Wine and Hors d’Oeuvres will be served. RSVP to events@hechoamano.org. Hecho a Mano is located at 129 W. Palace Avenue, Santa Fe, NM.
