Job Summary:
The Curator of Education leads all educational programming at the City of Greeley Museums, including the Greeley History Museum, Centennial Village Museum, Meeker Home Museum, and the White-Plumb Farm Learning Center. Youth programming is a key City Council priority, and the Curator of Education will be the leader in this space for Museums. This role encompasses developing, implementing, and overseeing educational programs designed to engage diverse audiences. The Curator of Education supervises three part-time Historic Site Interpreters, work-study students, interns, volunteers and collaborates extensively with internal city departments and external stakeholders, such as school districts, teachers, and other regional museum education professionals, to enhance educational experiences.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education, museum studies, history, or a related field required.
- Minimum of five years of experience in museum education or a related field.
Preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (spoken and written) is highly desired.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Frequent and intensive interaction with museum visitors in diverse weather conditions.
- Regular outdoor work, requiring resilience in adverse weather.
- Travel to other Museums sites and school classrooms as required.
- Physical ability to move, bend, twist, and stoop as needed.
- Stamina for prolonged periods of activity, including wearing historical clothing.
- Adequate vision to perform job-related tasks.
- Effective hearing and speech capabilities to communicate with large groups ranging from one to 100 people.
