Preoccupied: Pondering overlaps and transfers across the landscape and lore of these plains, edges, and canyons.
opening reception: Friday, September 27, 6 pm
on view: September 27–November 30, 2024
Join CO-OPt Research + Projects this Friday, September 27, at 6 pm for the opening of an installation by Scotty Hensler with collaboration from Mallory Prucha, Jude Haragan, and showgoers that explores themes on the Llano Estacado. The work delves into the imprints left by the region’s inhabitants—both human and animal, with a particular focus on the horse—through artifacts, activities, and stories. This installation incorporates elements from the broader imagery of West Texas, examining the historical and contemporary continuities and changes that have shaped perceptions of the place.
At 8 pm, there will be a Longitudes performance with Johnny Bell (Northern New Mexico) and Tongue Depressor (New Haven, Connecticut).
