Richard Levy Gallery and Bobby Beals Presents… are pleased to present Manjari Sharma and Eric Tillinghast, a thematic exhibition of pool paintings and photographs at Bishop’s Lodge Auberge Resort in Santa Fe. On Thursday, July 20, a special evening at Bishop’s Lodge Resort will include an artist reception 6-10 pm and an immersive video projection from Manjari Sharma’s series Surface Tension onto the pool after dark. Visit the gallery, meet the artists, and take in the sunset before reconvening at the pool after the sun goes down to experience the projection. The gallery exhibition continues through July 30. A $300 collector’s print by Manjari Sharma commemorating the projection will be offered for purchase at the event.

Manjari Sharma’s Surface Tension is a selection of photographic and video works of people swimming underwater. In this body of work, figures transform into landscapes, limbs into fins, shapes become amorphous, and identities unknowable as new forms emerge. Sharma’s projects have been exhibited internationally and featured in prominent publications such as The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, CNN World, NPR, Vice, and Forbes India, among others.
Eric Tillinghast’s paintings explore water isolated as a geometric shape. The artist collects vintage postcards of swimming pools and paints out surrounding details with white acrylic paint and a minuscule paint brush so that the painted area holds the illusion of being the paper. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Albright-Knox Gallery, the John Michael Kohler Art Center, the New Mexico Museum of Art, Portland State University, and the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art.
