Experience the magic of Chaco Culture National Historical Park at the National Parks Arts Foundation’s artist residency program, now accepting applications from artists in all disciplines.
The National Parks Arts Foundation once more offers a residency in the heart of the Chacolands. Located in northwestern New Mexico, this park consists of an entire ancient metropolis and one of the vital crossroads of the ancestral Puebloan-Chaco Culture, whose influence is felt all over the Southwest.
Chaco Culture National Historical Park consists of ten-plus ancient village complexes nestled in a long valley of dramatic cliffs and buttes. This park, because of its relative isolation, is truly a secret jewel for artistic inspiration.
This residency is open to all artists without reserve: visual artists, painters, virtual art, and performance, as well as all writers and photographers. This NPAF residency program offers dedicated individuals a one-of-a-kind environment of solitude and mystery in which to expand and nurture their creative path.
Here the resident experiences a fluid, expansive temporality that encourages breakthroughs in the creative process in an ages-old complex that preserves the heritage of the Chaco cultural lands. This unique artist residency in the month of February 2023 includes housing, a $2,000 stipend, and a venue for a presentation or performance.
