Coincidences
exhibition on view: October 6, 2023–April 30, 2024
live performances: October 6, 2023, and November 3, 2023
Dumke Arts Plaza, Ogden, Utah
The Mary Elizabeth Dee Shaw Gallery at Weber State University is pleased to present Coincidences at the Dumke Arts Plaza in Ogden, Utah. Utilizing the poetics of visual imagery, sound, and choreographed movement, jo Blake and Cam McLeod’s work mines the depths of the human experience and reminds us of our individual and collective resilience.
Coincidences is an interdisciplinary multimedia project and contemporary movement experience exploring shared isolation and concepts of sensory stimulation and informed trauma that impact the human experience. Plunging, swirling, and diving among the complications of today’s social issues, this exhibition invites the ever-changing, coordinated, and repeated murmurs of individual growth and change.
Live performances on October 6 and November 3 feature original choreography by jo Blake, original music by Trevor Price and Eileen Rojas, videography by Dylan Totaro, lighting design by William Peterson and Samijo Kougioulis, and dance performed by jo Blake, Jessica Evans, Dominic Favela, Kennedy Johnston, Cydnee Medina, Genevieve Nolan, Madisyn Sorensen, and Eli Thornley.
An artist talk will be held at 4:30 pm on November 9, 2023, at WB’s Eatery located at 455 25th Street, Ogden, Utah. This event, and all others, are free to attend and open to the public.
The Dumke Arts Plaza is an arts-focused community space, dynamic outdoor gallery, and intimate performance venue designed to inspire creativity, elevate diverse perspectives, and anchor Ogden as a hub for contemporary art.
