Wild Hearts Gallery presents Nancy and Jon Couch: Glass Magic

Wild Hearts Gallery in Placitas invite the public to a reception on October 10, 1-3 pm to meet Stained Glass artists, Nancy and Jon Couch and talk about their show: Glass Magic. Exhibit runs from September 29 – November 1.

Glass, light and a little bit of magic come together at Wild Hearts Gallery in October to present an exhibit of stained glass that is more than just an art form—it is the fusion of beauty and function. Glass Magic includes Nancy and Jon Couch’s famous Water Prisms plus windows, boxes, lamps, sun catchers and ornaments for the upcoming holiday season.

The “magic” occurs when their unique stained glass creations interact with the ever-changing
New Mexico light. They first discovered the brilliant rainbows that are the result of the sun shining through their Water Prisms in the 1980s. The over four decade long journey since has seen the creation of prisms in the shape of diamonds, pendants, gems, crystals and many special shapes sought after by collectors.

The Couch’s latest focus has been creating stained glass windows. Nancy says, “I love the process of creating new pieces and watching them come alive and evolve as I cut the glass and the design takes shape”. Their color choices are vibrant New Mexico colors and the windows glow when the sun shines on them.

A deep connection to New Mexico has inspired them to make windows of canyons, rivers, waterfalls and mountains as well as contemporary themes. They have also created special windows for several local churches in recent years and take pride in knowing they will be seen and admired by future generations.
