Gallery Hózhó is pleased to announce Life Abstracted, a dynamic group exhibition showcasing new works by Kurt Lomawaima, David A. Naranjo, Diego Rigales, and A. Thompson. The exhibition opens with a public reception on Thursday, June 6, from 5 to 7 PM. Complimentary snacks and beverages will be served.
Life Abstracted invites viewers to explore the personal and cultural landscapes of four artists who challenge traditional narratives through abstraction. Rather than depicting their worlds in a literal, figurative manner, these artists distill experiences, memories, and connections into expressive forms of color, texture, and rhythm.
Kurt Lomawaima’s complex compositions evoke his Hopi ancestral stories by referencing motifs from Sikyatki Revival pottery innovated by Nampeyo. David A. Naranjo employs designs from Pueblo ceramics, embracing the complex symmetries. Diego Rigales brings an emotive, intuitive approach to his canvases, where organic forms pulse with life and movement. A. Thompson’s bod colors and gestural brush strokes invite contemplation of space, balance, and the unseen forces that shape human experience from her Diné culture.
While each artist speaks from a distinct perspective, together they reveal abstraction as a powerful language of place, memory, and transformation. Life Abstracted is not only an exhibition of visual art but an invitation to reconsider how we see and feel the worlds we inhabit.
Join us for an evening of art, conversation, and community at Gallery Hózhó as we celebrate these visionary artists and their newest creations.
