Opening: Eddie Lee: Fascination of Passionation and Karrie Hovey: Morphology / Tell-Tale III

You’re invited to Aurelia Gallery (414 Canyon Rd, Santa Fe) for Eddie Lee’s Fascination of Passionation and Karrie Hovey’s Morphology. Both artists will discuss their work, and complimentary wine and snacks will be served.

Hovey’s Tell-Tale III extends into the courtyard. It uses a newspaper chainlink to symbolize Rapunzel’s hair and reflect our entrapment in modern institutions like government and civic duties. Thanks to The Santa Fe New Mexican for providing the newspaper materials.

Eddie Lee – Artist Statement
My work responds to significant moments in my life, expressing my immediate feelings. I capture the surrounding energy- high, low, simple, complex, and sometimes violent. I love color and shapes, and music influences my artwork. I use a unique printing technique with magnet-backed linoleum sheets to explore diverse possibilities.

Karrie Hovey – Artist Statement
Morphology: the study of form and structure.
Hovey is a multidisciplinary artist addressing environmental, wildlife conservation, and geographical concerns. Her diverse works relate through themes of sustainability, biodiversity, and public policy. The exhibition’s wall works reflect melting ice, erosion, botany, and interconnectedness. Growing up in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, Hovey developed a respect for nature. She holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts and an MFA from San Francisco State University, currently residing in Northern California.
