Opening: Avi Farber: Markings from Fire

Join us on 27 June from 5:00–7:00 PM for the opening reception of Markings from Fire, an exhibition of wood-fired ceramics, charcoal drawings, 3-D printed flasks, and a sound installation by multimedia artist and former United States Forest Service firefighter Avi Farber. In this exhibition, Farber explores environmental ecology, psychology, and sociology through materials, such as finely ground clay, Ponderosa Pine ash, and feldspar mineral dug in and around Abiquiú, NM. The ecosystems, geology, and deep history of the places Farber lives and works inform his ceramic sculptures, panels, flasks, and charcoal drawings that call attention to the way humans have shaped raw materials into objects since the emergence of fire.
