For thirteen years, CURRENTS New Media has been hosting an annual international art and technology festival in Santa Fe, New Mexico. After two years of reduced scale, CURRENTS will be back with a full-scale, city-wide festival June 17–26, 2022. CURRENTS Festival 2022: Circuits expands across the “City Different” with main locations at the Center for Contemporary Art and the Santa Fe County Fairgrounds and satellite locations at Currents 826, form & concept, and SITE Santa Fe. The festival will bring together the work of artists from around the globe including Akiko Nakayama, Tirtza Even, Anne Spalter, Bun Stout, Reilly Donovan, Andrew Frueh, Shomit Barua, Maryam Khaleghiyazdi, Avital Meshi, Johan Fredrik Källman, and many more.
More than seventy artworks will be presented as part of the multi-venue festival across Santa Fe. CURRENTS will exhibit a vast variety of work from interactive installations and sound performance to video projections, robotics, and augmented reality. Visitors to CCA will experience an immersive world of art and tech, both inside the beautiful Tank Garage gallery and outside with several open-air installations. CURRENTS will also make use of CCA’s theaters with four daily video programs and nightly performances. At the fairgrounds, visitors will experience creative and engaging art for the whole family. The neighboring Rodeo de Santa Fe will coincide with the second half of the festival, June 22–25. Required COVID-19 precautions will be in place at each location.
