- Artists who are within the first ten cumulative years of their practice.
- Artists who have no prior solo exhibitions in museum spaces.
- Artists with minimal to no representation in museum holdings.
- Artists with minimal commercial representation.
- The artist belongs to a historically marginalized or underrepresented community.
Proposals will be reviewed by New Mexico Museum of Art staff. Selected artists will receive curatorial support in the form of studio visits, writing and editing support, and installation guidance. Window Box artists will also receive an honorarium of $6,000 for materials and expenses. Selected artists will present their work via a formal artist talk, studio workshop, or other public engagement at the New Mexico Museum of Art Vladem Contemporary.
The Window Box Project houses a series of installations each year and allows visitors to experience beautiful, thoughtful art without needing to purchase a ticket or visit during open hours.
