Michael W. Barnard: Emanations of Inner Light
On view: July 10 – August 22
Opening reception: Friday, July 10th, 5-8pm
Electra Gallery is thrilled to present Emanations of Inner Light, a solo exhibition of mixed media artwork by Michael W. Barnard. Thread, glass, acrylic paint, and gold leaf come together to describe abstract forms and environments that are both elusive and mysteriously familiar. Geometric shapes, evocative forms and esoteric symbols such as the spiral, rainbow, and Buddha image appear, suggesting intriguing moments of encounter beyond the veil. Michael has been practicing Transcendental Meditation for over 50 years and his artwork draws from his experiences in meditation to communicate transcendent states of being.
Michael W. Barnard is an artist, producer, and filmmaker. He is the former Program Director of the David Lynch Graduate School of Cinematic Arts, and International Film Department Director of the Student’s International Meditation Society in Switzerland, California and New York. He is a graduate of the California College of Arts and Crafts and a former student and collaborator of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of Transcendental Meditation.
