Unchained.Art Contemporary Gallery presents ‘beyond brushstrokes’, a solo exhibition by Danish artist Magnus and his third solo show with the gallery.
Working across drawing, painting, and installation, Magnus builds figurative, narrative compositions with a Pop Art sensibility and a formative debt to Picasso: the flattened forms recast in his own bold, high-color language.
Human figures and animals carry his recurring preoccupations: their strength, their personality, and the hidden detail that rewards a closer, slower read. For this exhibition, his recent paintings pare down to a single strong subject, while he reaches back into the denser, more surreal energy of his earlier work, letting a little more fantasy return. Largely self-taught, Magnus lives and works in Copenhagen and flies in for the opening reception on Thursday, November 5, 5 – 8PM. On view through December 2, 2026.
