Percha Bank Exposition: A celebration of Photographic Art

September 29, 4:00 pm6:00 pm

Free

The historic Percha Bank Gallery in Kingston, New Mexico, presents the annual Percha Bank Exposition. Sixteen photographers from across the western United States gather for the tenth anniversary of Rendezvous Southwest. The work presented shares deep roots in traditional photography while encouraging creativity that pushes the boundaries of contemporary photography. The exhibition includes processes such as cyanotypes, platinum-palladium, lumens, pigment ink, silver gelatin, synthetic collages, composites of hand-applied precious metals, and pigments. The works are created with film cameras, large-format field cameras, handmade box cameras, iPhones, and digital cameras.

The first Photographer’s Rendezvous began in 1988 in California under the tutelage of Al Weber, photographer and educator. Ten years ago the torch was passed to three western photographers, Paul Schranz, Jan Pietrzak, Nolan Pierce, and Rendezvous Southwest was formed. Photographers from across the West convene to exchange progressive and educational ideas in traditional, digital, experimental, and alternative processes in order to further the photographic arts in this unique setting in Kingston, New Mexico.
