Opening: New Works by BC Nowlin

For more than two decades, B.C. Nowlin’s work has been a defining presence at Manitou Galleries. This landmark one-man exhibition opens Friday, June 5 from 5 to 7 pm and celebrates the enduring relationship between gallery and artist, and the continuing evolution of one of the Southwest’s most distinctive and visionary painters.
Born and raised on land bordering the Sandia Pueblo Reservation, Nowlin developed a deeply personal visual language shaped by cultural intersection, spiritual inquiry, and a fiercely independent path as a self-taught artist. Emerging as a pivotal voice of the “New West,” his paintings transcend narrative, offering meditations on journey, identity, and transformation.
Nowlin’s unmistakable imagery — solitary travelers, luminous forms, and dreamlike landscapes — invites viewers into contemplative worlds that feel both timeless and transcendent. Bold in design yet profoundly introspective, his work reflects decades of fearless exploration and a singular artistic vision.
