Exhibition Opening: Raices in Color: New Paintings by Alejandra Montano

Faust Gallery is pleased to present Raíces en Color, a new exhibition by Tucson-based artist Alejandra Montaño, opening Thursday, April 9 with a reception from 6 to 9 PM at the gallery in Old Town Scottsdale. The exhibition celebrates Montaño’s deeply personal visual language—one shaped by family history, Mexican cultural traditions, and the vibrant landscapes of the American Southwest.

Raíces en Color—which translates to “Roots in Color”—explores identity, memory, and heritage through Montaño’s unmistakable use of bold color and expressive brushwork. Drawing inspiration from her upbringing and cultural heritage, the artist creates paintings that are both intimate and exuberant, weaving together symbols, figures, and scenes that reflect the rhythms of everyday life and the enduring influence of family and place.

“I paint what I come from—my culture, my family, and the memories that stay with me,” says Montaño. “It has always been part of my life. It’s how I make sense of things, and how I keep my family’s legacy alive.”
