Southwest Contemporary is excited to launch our inaugural Artist Marketing Grant, a program created to jumpstart the visibility of working artists in the Southwest. For the Spring 2026 cycle, two artists will receive a robust promotional and professional development package designed to elevate their practice and put their work in front of thousands of engaged readers.
Recipients of this grant will receive one-on-one, personalized attention from the Southwest Contemporary team as we work with you to position your work and create an effective marketing campaign in support of your goals.
The Artist Marketing Grant package includes:
- One half-page print ad in the Spring-Summer 2026 issue of Southwest Contemporary magazine.
- $1,800 SWC digital advertising package.
- Free ad design service.
- A one-year SWC Supporter membership (includes merch, print magazines, and access to our Art Industry newsletter and Art Opportunity Index).
- A one-hour marketing strategy consult with SWC owner + publisher Lauren Tresp.
- A one-hour virtual studio visit with editorial director Jordan Eddy.
- The total package is valued at $3,500.
Deadline to Apply:
December 22, 2025, 11:59 pm MST.
Eligibility:
- Open to artists ages 18+.
- Artists must primarily live and work in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, or the Northern Mexico Borderlands. We define “primarily” as spending 51%+ of the year in this region. Applicants should also have resided within this region for at least two years prior to the time of submission.
- Artists may be at any stage of their career.
- All visual arts media are accepted: painting, sculpture, new media, performance, printmaking, fiber arts, photography, mixed media, video, installation, and more.

Applying for this grant is FREE and only requires submission of the form below (emailed applications will not be accepted):
- Your contact information and confirm your state of residence is eligible.
- Tell us how this marketing package will help advance your work and/or support a project.
- Share your work with us by entering your website, artist statement, and bio.
- Complete a few short survey questions to help us better understand the needs of artists in our community.
Applicant Review and Criteria
Applications will be reviewed by SWC editorial staff and a small advisory committee. Successful applicants will demonstrate sustained dedication to their art practice:
- A legible website that showcases your work.
- Thoughtful artist statement.
- Preparedness to engage in marketing activities in support of a professional creative practice or project.
