Millville Studios is pleased to present FREEFALL, a solo exhibition by Marcus Xavier Chormicle and the inaugural exhibition of Millville Projects, a guest-curated exhibition series. Curated by Shannon Smith, the exhibition will be on view from August 28 through October 30, 2026, with opening and closing receptions held from 7–10 PM on the first and final evenings of the exhibition.
FREEFALL brings together photography and risograph prints that draw from family archives, performance and personal history. The exhibition includes archival photographs alongside newly produced images and prints that examine relationships between family history, place and the broader histories of the American Southwest.
Several bodies of work are informed by Chormicle’s family history, including photographs connected to his maternal grandfather’s participation in the Chaparral Gunfighters and the death of his paternal grandfather at the hands of police in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Drawing from archival photographs, Chormicle creates performative self-portraits and risograph prints that revisit these histories through newly produced images.
