Exhibition Opening, Nate “Moo” Bishara: I See You

I See You is a solo presentation of instant film photography archiving Southwestern Queer life through a number of events held in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Following a tradition of queer photojournalism, Nate Bishara prioritizes the documentation of folks whose queerness intersects with other marginalized identities.
Nate “Moo” Bishara is a queer interdisciplinary documentarian based out of Dallas, TX. While attending the University of North Texas, he founded Over Magazine, a publication that platformed over 400 unique artists of varying mediums in two full magazines. Over Magazine hosted countless events, exhibitions, workshops, and collaborations with local creatives. After a break in 2020, Bishara started a photography artist residency at The TX Studios where he started his solo publishing project, YEARBOOK. YEARBOOK documented the stories, lives, and struggles of LGBTQIA+ identifying folks in relation to community specific topics through interviews, photographs, and collaboration. The culmination of his work during the residency led to the official publication of YEARBOOK as well as managing The TX Studios on the weekends. Bishara turned to instant film in 2022, documenting the LGBTQIA+ nightlife scene in Dallas-Fort Worth. Three years of documenting led to a permanent installation of almost 400 instax prints at The Dallas Eagle and the start of the sequel to YEARBOOK. Bishara’s professional appointments include event planning and organization of over 200 events, documenting and publishing zines by local organizations like COLORWAAVE, and starting Sapphic & Queer, an event that caters to overlooked and underrepresented groups of the LGBTQIA+, alongside his colleagues. His current practice focuses on small and large scale publishing, event production, instant film, portrait photography, and event photography.
