Clay Speaks of Home, the annual New Mexico Potters and Clay Artists’ members exhibition, opens at the Santa Fe Community College Visual Arts Gallery on March 5 and runs through April 8. With over 60 works on exhibit, this promises to be one of the largest and best exhibitions yet from this wonderful, state-wide, 50-year-old organization. From expressive sculpture to beautifully glazed functional pottery, this exhibition appeals to a wide range of tastes. There are mixed media works, wall pieces, functional and decorative ware that express everything from profound harmony with our New Mexican landscape to serious concerns about world events.
Please join us at SFCC’s lovely campus for the opening reception on Thursday, March 5, from 4-7 PM to meet the artists, tour the gallery, and hear who won awards from the three jurors: Serit deLopaz Kotowski (last year’s winner), Mary Sharp Davis (ceramicist extraordinaire) and Elizabeth Hunt (Head of Ceramics, SFCC). Maybe you will find an outstanding piece for your own collection, or simply enjoy the wide range of skills and artistic creations. Then, check out the exhibit on our website and cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award at www.nmpotters.org, beginning on March 5.
