What happens when an artist approaches wire as though it were thread? That question is at the heart of “The Language of Wire”, a solo exhibit of work by Las Cruces New Mexico artist Leslie Toombs, opening October 15 at The Mad Hatter Gallery in Las Cruces, NM.
Toombs has developed a visual language in which wire is not simply a material-—it is a vocabulary. Through an intricate process of looping, weaving and shaping wire, she creates sculptures that occupy physical space while seeming almost to dissolve into it.
“The Language of Wire” opens October 15, continuing through November 21,2026 with an opening reception October 16 from 5PM-8PM.
