Goldie Poblador: The Rise of Medusa
On view: September 20, 2025–January 18, 2026
Step into Goldie Poblador’s, The Rise of Medusa, a descent into a subaquatic realm where light, scent, glass, and sound merge to form an environment that is fragile, haunting, and resilient. At its heart is Medusa, both a stage in the jellyfish life cycle and the mythic figure, echoing how bodies, ecosystems, and stories adapt, endure, and reclaim power.
Bathed in deep celestial blue, the gallery immerses visitors in nine glass sculptures suspended like coral reefs and jellyfish, transformed by light into the monstrous feminine. Sound by Ben Richter and scents created with M. Dougherty amplify the sensation of inhabiting a marine environment while evoking ecological devastation, cultural memory, and resilience.
Through these layered experiences, The Rise of Medusa reframes fragility as strength, revealing the smallest creatures and overlooked systems as essential, resilient, and vital to our survival.
