Reception: Zienna Brunsted Stewart: Make Believe

A one–day exposition of works by Zienna Brunsted Stewart opens at Santa Fe’s jazz bar Tonic. 

Make Believe is a new collection of figure paintings; delicate vignettes that toggle between highly rendered realism and  playful abstraction. A celebration of embodiment. 

On Friday, September 19, from 3:00–7:00 pm, twenty works will be on display. The bar will be open for cocktails and non alcoholic drinks for purchase. 

Zienna Brunsted Stewart (b. 1995) is a Danish–American representational oil painter living and working in New Mexico. 

With a focus on depictions of womxn in natural spaces, this is her first deviation into experimental and abstracted forms. While still maintaining the precision of her academic training, Make Believe is full of color, energetic texture, and emotional narrative.
