The public is invited to Wild Hearts Gallery for a reception to meet Judith Roderick and talk about her art quilts, Bowerbirds.

Bowerbirds is an exhibition of Judith Roderick’s colorful, hand-painted, embellished, silk art quilts in various sizes. These quilts are a reflection of her joy in collecting and arranging objects and in embellishing – a joy she shares with the bowerbirds. In creating these paintings, she is not just an artist, but a participant in the bowerbirds’ world, helping them choose how to create their bowers and decorate them.

Roderick traveled twice to Australia in the early 2000s, where she observed two of the 15 species of bowerbirds in Australia and New Guinea. She has been fascinated by them ever since.

“Being in the creative flow has long been a form of meditation for me. The natural world, world-wide, is full of beauty, harmony and wonders for us to honor, appreciate and protect, and so I continue to illustrate some of this beauty and send it out into the world. I am very grateful to be an artist in this lifetime.”

Wild Hearts Gallery is an artists’ collective, supported by fourteen local artists. The gallery is open Tuesday–Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, Saturday–Sunday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
