Opening: Zach Taylor: Rubberneck

Please join Curate Santa Fe for an opening celebration for Rubberneck, the works of Zach Taylor at Iconik Lena.
Zach Taylor is a mixed-media artist focusing on serious topics through a lens of humor. He works primarily with glass/gas and photographic mediums. The Rubberneck series is an introspective tour via snapshots depicting a surrealist vision of various identities. In doing this, each of Zach’s “monsters” are the masks worn, and modeled, by different acquaintances throughout his life. As an observer and a curator, this series makes no judgement, but stares with an exaggerated curiosity at the characters in our lives. With this collection, Zach uses Gum Bichromate printing and individually hand-crafted masks to emphasize this surrealist and subconscious experience with a stylized whimsy. Gum Bichromate printing is a 19th century photographic process where a mixture of gum arabic, dichromates, and water color pigment is applied to paper making it UV sensitive.
