Sienna Van Slooten: Beauty in Nature
On view: December 5–December 15, 2025
Opening reception: Friday, December 5, 4:00-6:00 pm
Kay Contemporary Art is having their annual fireside chat with artist and native Santafean, Sienna Van Slooten.
With a foothold in both the fine art world and the scientific illustration community, Sienna Van Slooten details the beauty and interdependence of local flora and fauna. Her work is referenced from dozens of photographs of each species to capture what a photograph can’t always depict; the way it moves, interacts, and characteristics that Sienna relates too. She reads articles and researches habitats, characteristics, how an animal interacts with its ecosystem, all to get to the true essence of the animal. Her linework and expressions spark curiosity and recognition.
Sienna speaks of her need to protect the smaller and misunderstood prey animals. She feels they will not receive the same protection as other animals because they are seen as pests. Please join us for a fireside chat in our garden from 4:00-6:00 pm on Friday, December 5th, 2025 and enjoy Sienna’s work.
