Blue Rain Gallery presents Nos Galan Gaeaf, a hauntingly beautiful new series by figurative painter Robin Jones.

The show is titled Nos Galan Gaeaf, which is the Welsh name for the night preceding November 1, the first day of winter in Wales. As with Halloween and Day of the Dead celebrations around the world, in Wales it’s a time when it is believed that the veil between life and death is at its thinnest and spirits roam freely about the land.

Inspired by Celtic traditions that honor the thin veil between life and death, Jones weaves portraits of young girls into landscapes of Wales, Scotland, and Brittany—where nature, animals, and human-made structures converge. With an autumnal palette and themes of ancestry, spirituality, and animism, Jones invites viewers into a contemplative world that balances innocence and wisdom, timelessness and transformation.
