About the artist: claudia hermano (they/them) is a trans non-binary Filipino American artist and educator working primarily in photography, with a practice that extends into book arts, sculpture, and performance. Their work explores the intersections of embodiment, belonging, and representation, with a focus on queer, fat, and mixed-race identities. hermano was born in New York and spent their childhood moving between New York, California, Texas, and Massachusetts. They hold a BA in Photography from Hampshire College and an MFA in Studio Art from the University of New Mexico. They currently reside in Albuquerque, NM on unceded Tewa land. They work at the University of New Mexico as a graduate studios manager and adjunct faculty member.
