Southwest Contemporary has compiled a list of resources that may be useful to our community members at this time. This list will be updated as new information and new resources become available.
City of Albuquerque Arts & Culture Fund
Applications are open now for funding from the City of Albuquerque Urban Enhancement Trust Fund. These funds will be immediately directed to Albuquerque arts and cultural non-profit organizations to enable them to continue to creatively provide arts and cultural programming for the community and employment for artists. Albuquerque Creatives DIY Media
The City of Albuquerque’s Cultural Services Department invites creative pitches for engaging, original, and creative video content that is ready-to-air and stream on the city’s public access channels, social media, and other digital platforms. Contracts ranging from $75 to $2500 will be awarded to Albuquerque creatives, designers, artists, and media makers to create and deliver fresh and relevant local video content in April and May 2020. City of Albuquerque Youth Engagement Digital Programming Fund
The City of Albuquerque’s Cultural Services Department (CSD) is directing up to $30,000 to fund contracts with local creatives and teaching artists who can create original, engaging video content designed to engage youth in educational activities connected to arts and culture that can be broadcast and streamed on the city’s public access channels (GOVTV, Public Access, and Local Origination) and/or other digital platforms (Facebook Live, Zoom, interactive websites, etc.). Santa Fe County Artist Relief Fund
The Culture Connects Coalition has partnered with Lannan Foundation to form the Artist Relief Fund to help those artists most dramatically affected by COVID-19. Applications are open now to Santa Fe artists for grants of up to $1,000. Learn more and apply here.
Santa Fe Artists’ Medical Fund
Founded by artists for artists, this local organization provides financial support to professional artists living and working in Santa Fe County that have medical needs but cannot afford treatment or prescriptions. Learn more and apply through their website here.
516 Arts Museum from Home Project
516 Arts in Albuquerque is asking artists in all media and disciplines to submit one item of original work (could include visual art, writing, interviews, videos of performing arts work, pictures of your studio/workspace, works in progress, tips for staying sane, recipes for self-care, your reading list, or thoughts on how you can leverage social distancing to impact your practice, etc.) to be featured on social media, blog, and website for the duration of our closure. NM Art From Anywhere Call for Videos
We (Southwest Contemporary) are seeking submissions of video walk-throughs of exhibitions at galleries, nonprofits, and artist-run spaces from across New Mexico. Videos will be hosted for free on our website and YouTube channel as part of our “NM Art From Anywhere” series. Learn more submit.
City of Santa Fe Culture Connects Coalition
Culture Connects Coalition is a fund to support arts and culture in all their expressions for the greater good of the community and constituents. As the Coalition’s first initiative, in response to COVID-19 pandemic and to reduce its greater impact on the community, the City’s Arts and Culture Department has partnered with Lannan Foundation to form the Artist Relief Fund to help artists dramatically affected. Coalition of Arts Funders Launches Emergency Artist Relief Fund
A coalition of national arts grant makers, consisting of Academy of American Poets, Artadia, Creative Capital, Foundation for Contemporary Arts, MAP Fund, National YoungArts Foundation, and United States Artists, announces the launch of Artist Relief, which will provide rapid, unrestricted $5,000 relief grants to assist artists facing dire financial emergencies due to the impact of COVID-19; serve as an informational resource; and co-launch the COVID-19 Impact Survey for Artists and Creative Workers, designed by Research Partner Americans for the Arts, to better identify and address the needs of artists moving forward. Kinkade Family Foundation Grants for Curators and Humanitarian Non-profits
The Kinkade Family Foundation is offering new Emergency Grants of up to $5,000 for curators who are developing projects that promote artwork of contemporary and experimental nature. The Emergency Grant provides funding for a curatorial project that sheds light on the world during this time of darkness. Priority will be given to curators who have a venue secured for their project and are greatly impacted by the challenges we are facing due to COVID-19. View the details for the curator grant here.

The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant program is intended to provide interim financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation. Americans for the Arts COVID-19 Resource and Response Center
Americans for the Arts is gathering data and impact stories through a national survey. The survey will capture a broad spectrum of data and stories that will demonstrate how arts and culture workers triumphed and survived this crisis as well as the effect of the outbreak on operations through canceled events, lost wages, and additional expenses.
