Opening: Kate Raphael: Evidence of Life

Please join us for the inaugural exhibition for SALA, a collaboration between Alluvial Project and Embudo Valley Vineyards. A bright and intimate space, SALA showcases local artists working in NM and the Southwest.

Evidence of Life
Kate Raphael makes loss visible by creating mixed media art with papers her ancestors saved and passed on. This show is a continuation of the artist’s work to reexamine the stories we’re told. She experiences each hand-written letter, receipt, and old newspaper as physical evidence of a life, allowing her to make her way through grief, memory, truth and catharsis. Her work comes face-to-face with loss while capturing life in the present moment. Kate Raphael works as a full-time artist in Dixon, New Mexico. She lives with her husband and two dogs along the Embudo River.
