SUMMARY:Judith Roderick: With Gratitude for Trees
DESCRIPTION:Wild Hearts Gallery is pleased to announce the November Featured Artist exhibition\, Judith Roderick: With Gratitude for Trees. This exhibition will be on display November 3–29\, 2026. \nWith Gratitude for Trees is a presentation of fine art quilts that was inspired by Judith Roderick’s visit to the Chiricahua mountains in Southern Arizona. These sky islands are the most bio-diverse land on this continent\, visited by half of our North American birds. This exhibition pays homage to the beautiful large trees that provide food and shelter for the many birds Judith has long admired. \nArmed with fresh inspiration\, Judith returned to Placitas ready to create the quilts for With Gratitude for Trees. All her quilts are made from her hand-painted silk or silk designs printed for her\, photos printed on silk and silk color blends. Her signature vintage buttons\, shells and beads are sewn on in a meditative way at her dining room table while watching the birds and the Sandia mountains outside her window. \nThe artists’ reception will be celebrated with fellowship and refreshments on Saturday\, November 7\, 1-3 pm.

SUMMARY:Wild Hearts Gallery presents Judith Roderick: With Gratitude for Trees
DESCRIPTION:With Gratitude for Trees is a presentation of fine art quilts that was inspired by Judith Roderick’s birthday trip last fall to the Chiricahua Mountains in Southern Arizona. These sky islands are the most biodiverse land on this continent\, visited by half of our North American birds including the Acorn Woodpecker and Red-Naped Sapsucker.  \nJudith has long been fascinated by birds and was thrilled to see such an abundance of them in person\, as well as the beautiful large trees they utilize for food and shelter. She observed them for days—sketched\, took a million photos and couldn’t wait to paint them on silk and make them into quilts. \nArmed with fresh inspiration\, Judith returned to Placitas ready to create the quilts for With Graditude for Trees. Step by step\, using wax and silk dyes\, she painted the images onto the silk. After steaming\, to set the dyes\, she used the silk to create a three-layer quilt with backing\, batting and top. \nJudith says ”I still love the process of creating art quilts showing the beauty and diversity of our planet; the painting\, the sewing and the embellishing.” \nThe artists’ reception will be celebrated with fellowship and refreshments on Saturday\, November 7\, 1-3 pm. Stop by for coffee on November 1 for our First Sunday ARTScrawl – it’s your last day to view Glass Magic before we rehang the gallery for With Gratitude for Trees which opens on the 3rd. \nWild Hearts Gallery is an artists’ collective of 17 local artists. Located at 221-B State Highway 165\, the gallery is open Tuesday-Friday from 10:00 am. to 4:00 pm.\, Saturday-Sunday from 10:00 am. to 2:00 pm with extended holiday hours taking effect in November. SUMMARY:Sixth Annual Placitas Holiday Market
DESCRIPTION:The sixth annual Placitas Holiday Market will return to the traditional weekend before Thanksgiving on November 21-22\, with events at six sites located on or near Highway 165. Pick up a map and follow the Candy Cane signage to the market sites. You will find art\, crafts\, food and drink for your holiday shopping.  \nProceeds from this event benefit the good works of local community groups and charities. Maps will be available at all venue sites and online. Admission is free. \nFor more information and a list of participating vendors\, go to www.placitasholidaymarket.com. \nSite #1 – Wild Hearts Gallery\, Homestead Village Shopping Center\, 220-B NM-165: An artist collective of 17 members.  A portion of sales will benefit “Placitas Wild” in memory of the late Sandy Johnson\, a metalsmith jeweler at Wild Hearts Gallery.  \nSite # 2 – Placitas Community Library\, 453 NM-165: A nonprofit providing children and adult programs\, an art gallery and meeting space for community use. The library will feature 14 artists\, a raffle benefiting library programs\, and a bake and book sale. \nSite #3 – Placitas Winery\, 26 Camino de los Pueblitos: A micro-winery producing fruit wines and a community event center. It will feature 28 artists\, a raffle\, wine\, beer\, cocktails and food to warm the spirits.  \nSite # 4 – Historic Las Placitas Presbyterian Church\, 7 Paseo de San Antonio : This 19th century Spanish village church will feature the artwork of 14 artists and a raffle that will benefit Placitas Artists Series \nSite #5 – Placitas Elementary School\, 5 Camino del Carbon: It will feature over 25 artists\, a raffle and bake sale benefiting the school’s educational programs.  \nSite #6 – Placitas Community Senior Center\, 41 Camino de Las Huertas: The center will display a variety of artwork and crafts from 20 artisans.
